"The PS22 Chorus of 2009 has some fun with Coldplay's Grammy nominated song Viva La Vida, the amazing new hit single from the album of the same name . . . I love watching them sing this one, and it has kind of a different sound and feel on the guitar than the previously posted piano and acapella versions, so I thought it merited YouTubeage . . . :) April sings the solo and sounds better than ever on this one.The PS22 Chorus consists of about 60 fifth graders and have sung with Tori Amos, Crowded House, among many others. Oh, this was amazing. I watched the entire thing...chills. Their faces...oh, to sing with such passion at such a young age. You could see every single one of them could FEEL this song! Beautiful!

I once had an educator of young teens say to me, "Kids just don't sing anymore. They don't like to sing." My experience has been and is, delightfully, the exact opposite. I include music in EVERY course, with every age--I'm not kidding! I "fill" extra minutes of a class with my standard, "Music Mysteries"--kids LOVE this (check out ZYDECO music, as in Buckwheat Zydeco--happy, happy sounds). I frequently play background music reflecting what they're studying as they enter the room, etc. etc. :o) Such a thrill, such hope! xoxo to all

"There are 45 other children who now live at the Agape orphanage. They range in ages from 12 months to 18 years. Most of the children have lost their parents to AIDS.
Agape was founded by a lady called Gogo "Grandma" Zodwa. She was working as an HIV counselor and found that many of the people she was counseling expressed deep concern about what would happen to their children when they were no longer around. So Zodwa established Agape to look after these children. Agape has had a tumultuous journey, but under Zodwa’s loving guidance it continues to grow stronger. Agape is a Greek word meaning 'unconditional love', which is exactly what the children at Agape receive."

Of the ones I knew, four of my schoolmates didn't make it back, but I'm sure there were more. When I touched the names inscribed on the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., that's when I wept. One lived on one end of my street, and another at the other "T" end of my street. Richard and Donald, they were older--the oldest brothers in each family. Then there was one classmate who had argued as a "hawk" and another as a "dove" in government class. Neither Tom nor Robert returned. Our neighbor's brother made it back.
